Abstract

A feeding trial was conducted to study the effects of supplemented toasted lima bean (P.lunatus) diets on the growth performance and utilization of Clarias gariepinus fingerlings. TLBM was used to replace soybean meal at 0% (L0), 25% (L25), 50% (L50), 75% (L75) and 100% (L100) producing five diets. Diets were fed to triplicate groups of C. gariepinus daily to satiation. One hundred (100) fingerlings with an initial mean weight of 2.0g were allotted at random to five treatments in triplicate groups with each treatment tank having five fingerlings and were fed with isocaloric and isonitrogenous diets. Results indicated that the mean weight gain was significantly (P<0.05) higher in fish fed diet 2(6.34) and diet 5(5.02) than all other treatments. Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) was significantly higher (p<0.05) in diet 2(1.20), diet 1(1.56), diet 5(1.520 and diet 4(1.64). Specific growth rate (SGR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) showed no significant difference (P>0.05) as a result of the treatments. The specific growth rate was significantly higher in diet II (4.37) while diet V has the least specific growth rate 2.53. Summary of findings highlights that soybean meal can be replaced up to 25% and 100% of Toasted lima bean meal in the diets of African catfish, C. gariepinus fingerlings without compromising the growth and carcass composition..

Abstract

The objective of the present work is to design and develop a brushless dc motor (BLDC).With the knowledge acquired from various magnetic designs and its power a motor has been built. The primary goal and focus is to be able to make a fully functioning motor. Once it is determined what type of material is to make the stator and other portions of the motor out of a reasonable size and power output is estimated. Using a general radial flux motor concept, the design is refined through calculations while keeping in mind the limitations of machining. This proved to be very difficult given the type of material that should to be machined. After many checks and calculations the final design was approved and parts was ordered. Using this radial flux motor design, all parts are manufactured using various machines; lathes, end mails, band saws, CNC mills, etc. from one single piece of bar stock steel. To power the designs stellaries, Texas Instrument, one phase BLDC motor controller is used. The motor has been modified to accommodate the Hall Effect sensors necessary to operate the controller. As will be shown throughout the research, many difficulties and frustrations are encountered during design and machining of the motor. It will be thoroughly explained through this research that the theories and practices in both magnetic design and electrical circuit theory can be manipulated into a device that changes electrical energy into mechanical energy.

Abstract

Today engineering students are required to communicate their ideas, developments, plans and innovations to the society at large. Their works usually reflect today’s need of the sustainability of the world and its resources. They try to show how effective their works are, what advantages those things have over the former ones to make the world a better place and what risks can be avoided by employing those things, etc in their project presentations. They need to convey meanings and values through their presentations. In this background, the author would like to equip the students with the needed skills for the oral presentation so that they have to overcome problems in presenting their work. A careful research was done by making a need analysis of 30 of 4th Year students at Technological University (Kyaukse) so that needs, lacks and wants could be found out first. These needs were overcome by using risk management. So it is hoped that this paper will be able to point out the needs, lacks, and wants of the students concerning with oral presentation and the ways to overcome them.

Author(s): Mathewos Asfaw
Page(s): 733-748
Abstract

The purpose of this study was to boost Braille skill of third year social science students with visual impairment in SSNTC to help them to take exam in Braille. The researchers used interview and focus group discussion to collect data. The major problems that hinders students with visual impairment not to take exam in Braille were the existence of the problems of reading and writing in Braille. The researchers took some training which focussed on boosting their writing and reading in Braille. The researchers prepared some paragraphs and presented to them to read and write after the training and the students with visual impairments wrote and read properly.

Abstract

The decrement of fossil fuels plays a wide challenge to all industrial sectors. The energy required for manufacturing processes is obtained from petroleum products, solar energy, wind energy, bio gas etc., In the current scenario, hydrocarbon fuels like petroleum products, ethanol are utilized to run the industries for power generation. Due to the reduction of the natural sources, several researches were conducted in hydrogen generation.Water is the major source of hydrogen energy; This article reveals the investigations carried out to obtain hydrogen and oxygen from water through electrolysis. Hydrogen is unstable in nature and it is highly explosive. Oxygen enhances the combustion of hydrogen; hence water is the suitable source which can produce hydrogen and oxygen. This review article exhibits that the challenges of hydrogen energy production and the importance of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. By identifying the marketing strategies of hydrogen generator, many countries have commercialized plans with such hydrogen generator technologies. The hydrogen and oxygen gas generator is called as fuel cell. The fuel cell is often used for conversion of chemical energy to Electrical energy.Energy conversion system that will eventually become the first choice for power production. The fuel cell has zero emission nature and it is completely clean. Catalyst and accelerators enhances the rate of HHO generation. Varying the current supply in the electrolysis process will affects the quantity of the hydrogen and oxygen gas.
