Abstract :

The study focused on Reasons for the Decline of Volleyball Sport: The case of Sebet a Town, Oromia Special Zone Surround Finfinne. The ai m of this study were to identify the major factors that hinders peoples participation, to determine their participation and to assess those problems that hinder their participation in sebetatown. Population of this study were sport officers and Experts, Directors, teachers, kebele sport managers and students who were currently working and learning in Sebetatown. Primary and secondary data were collected for the study and were drawn from sebetatown, physical education teachers, kebele sport managers, school directors, students and from town sport officers & experts. Available sampling method were used to select sampled populations. Thus descriptive survey design was used with both qualitative and quantitative research analysis methods. There were 48 students (24 Female and 24 Male), and 9 Physical education teachers, 10 Directors, 10 kebele sport managers and 6 sport officers and experts were selected by using random sampling techniques. Interview guides, Self guide question naires and observation check lists were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed using frequency, percent age,tables and spss version 20 software. The findings of this research reveale that less assistance of managers, lack of sport fields, funds, materials, less attentions toward VB sport and facilities in the development of volleyball sport were the major problems that raised. In this aspect, most respondents were prove that the above listed were the core problems that need immediate solutions. Thus based on the results I recommend Ministry of sport and concerned bodies would improve VB sport fields, materials, support money and take attentions to develop and expand VB sport in thi s town and everywhere in the country.
