πŸ“ Abstract
Warehouse inventory management is critical for optimizing operational efficiency, reducing stock discrepancies, and ensuring seamless supply chain execution. In modern warehouses, locating last-quantity itemsβ€”products with single-digit or minimal remaining stockβ€”presents a major logistical challenge, often leading to order fulfillment delays, stockouts, and misplacement errors. This research evaluates the operational effectiveness of an Excel-based warehouse inventory checking sheet designed specifically for rapid identification and location tracking of last-quantity products. Utilizing primary data collected from 100 warehouse supervisors, inventory clerks, and logistics personnel in Coimbatore, alongside secondary industry reports, the study employs statistical tools including percentage analysis, chi-square tests, ANOVA, and weighted ranking methods. The findings reveal that structured Excel-based inventory checking sheets significantly enhance stock visibility, reduce item retrieval time, and minimize inventory shrinkage. Furthermore, the study identifies key determinants such as real-time spreadsheet updating, conditional formatting alerts, and user familiarity that dictate system success. The research concludes that custom Excel checking sheets provide an agile, cost-effective alternative to expensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for small-to-medium warehousing enterprises, offering actionable insights for inventory optimization.
