Analphabetism is often seen in the predominant informal economies as a barrier to women's economic independence, effectively disseminating their effective methods outside of the educational framework. In Africa, these unlettered women entrepreneurs support their families, stimulate markets, and demonstrate flexibility in the face of economic and financial crises. Through the idea of "the illettrisme raison," this essay examines the mental and mathematical processes they employ to manage their transactions without resorting to written language or formal calculations. It emphasizes non-formal knowledge, pragmatic intelligence, and symbolic strategies suitable for the informal sector. By challenging limiting assumptions, the research delves into the debates surrounding alphabetization, gender, and the informal economy, advocating for educational policies and policies that are tailored to local sociocultural differences.
