Theft and loss of smartphones have been an ongoing concern, especially when the phone is deliberately turned off to avoid detection by tracking systems. The conventional method of tracking a smartphone relies heavily on the phone's operating system and network connections. This becomes a major problem when the phone is deliberately turned off to avoid detection. This paper proposes a tamper-proof independent GPS tracker that can track a powered-off smartphone. The proposed GPS tracker design meets the requirements of power efficiency, accuracy, reliability, and resistance to tampering. Functioning independently of the smartphone's power and operating system, the proposed GPS tracker design can be used to significantly improve the security of smartphones and ensure the reliable tracking of powered-off devices.
