Abstract

The process of finding cheaper and better means of implementing electronic solutions is the goal of modern technology. This paper focuses on finding an alternative means preferably digital and firmware based on design and develop a digital AM receiver using TDA1072. The Amplitude Modulated receiver circuit consists of an antenna, AM demodulation unit with signal indicator output, digital tuning circuit (frequency Synthesiser), integrator, differential amplifier, frequency divider and microcontroller output. The AM demodulator IC uses balanced full-wave detector method for demodulation. Internally, it has a full wave rectifier circuit that gives signal strength indication output, and frequency oscillation that can give audio output as well. The ADC converter of a microcontroller (PIC 16F877) converts the output signal into digital. Thissystem will display the frequency received by dividing the frequency from the oscillator, and this will be fed into PIC16F877 to give station frequencies that will be locked into. An audio output through speaker is incorporated and the station programmes is heard. Tuning to different stations is done using PLL circuit which generates a local oscillation via a varactor for balanced full-wave demodulation.

Impact of Cultivation Methods on Soil Fertility and Rural Livelihoods in Arsi Zone, South East Ethiopia
Author(s): Sisay Taddese
Page(s): 28-35
Abstract

Land degradation, in the form of soil erosion and nutrient depletion, threatens food security and the sustainability of agricultural production in many developing countries.Specially, in Ethiopia soil erosion is a series problem and therefore, it’s aimed to assess the impact of cultivation methods on soil fertility and rural livelihood in southeast Ethiopia. Composite soil samples were collected from five cultivation fieldswith 3 replication with the simple random sampling system. There was a higher value of BD in wheat-wheat and wheat-barley than wheat-bean and wheat-pea cropping system. The wheat-wheat and wheat-barley cropping systems didn’t pose any changes in the values of pH, SOM, and Av.P. Correspondingly, as compared to the adjacent continuous wheat cultivation, wheat-barley, wheat-bean, and wheat-maize cropping system increased SOM and TN. Similarly, most households support their family from what they produce from crop rotation with an average annual income of 27450 (Birr/ha) while continues cropping is 9650 Birr/ha. Because of this about 61.64% households satisfied food security from income obtained from crop cultivation. Generally, the cultivation of wheat-bean and wheat-pea cropping systems improve the selected properties of soil while wheat-barley and wheat-maize in comparison with continuous wheat cropping systems had adverse effects on the soil fertility and owing to this the productivity of soil increase the livelihood of the farmers in the study area. Therefore, it is recommended to include legume in cropping system for sustaining the soil fertility and improve the farmer’s livelihood.

Abstract

KebonLega area, in BojongloaKidul sub-district, has been known as a center for bag manufacturing since 1990. However, the implementation of the AEC in Indonesia has a negative impact on the bag industry in KebonLega because businesses there must face problems relating to the availability of raw materials, human resources, and distribution. These problems can be overcome by analyzing the performance of KebonLega bag industry supply chain management.Previous research states that performance in an industry will improve if all four variables used in it can provide significant results on supply chain management. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of implementing supply chain management in the industry. In this study uses four independent variables namely long-term relationships, information sharing, trust, and process integration.
This research was conducted using a quantitative method. Data were analyzed using SPSS.25 and SPSS.22. Validity and reliability tests, classical assumption test, multiple regression analysis, hypothesis testing, partial test (t), simultaneous test (F) and determination test were also carried out for data processing.
The results of the study indicate that the variables of information sharing and trust have significant results. Meanwhile, the variable of long-term relationship has insignificant results and the variable of process integration gives minus and insignificant results. The two variables with significant results can be reused by researchers who are interested in researching supply chain performance management in other sectors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the level of economic, technical and allocative efficiency of the use of production factors for the type of closed house system cages per breeder individual in Lamongan Regency and study and analyze what factors affect economic efficiency, allocative efficiency and technical efficiency in the closed house system cages. The sampling technique used in this study was a multistage sampling method which consisted of 14 breeders who partner with PT. X Lamongan Regency, East Java. The result of thestudy was the R/C ratio of broiler poultry farming with Closed House System (CHS) of 1.12. Input variables that affected the production function of broiler poultry farming with a Closed House System (CHS) patterns are DOC, feed, vaccines, and electricity water. Input variables that affect the cost function of poultry farming with a Closed House System (CHS) pattern were DOC, feed, vaccines, and electricity water. The Closed House System (CHS) broiler poultry farming business in Lamongan Regency has not been technically efficient even though a high level of technical efficiency was obtained in each of the business patterns of 0.959 in the Closed House System (CHS) pattern. The diversity of technical efficiency level in the broiler poultry farming business with a Closed House System (CHS) pattern of 0.036 was influenced by inefficiency sources, namely age and education because the age of close house system breeders in the average productive age and the average education of scholars who supported the operation of broiler poultry cages. The ability of breeders in minimizing costs to achieve average broiler production with a Closed House System (CHS) pattern of 15,142.8 live chickens was at satisfaction level but did not meet economic efficiency with an average economic efficiency of 0.9999750 with Closed House System (CHS) pattern. The average level of allocative efficiency in broiler poultry farming business with the pattern of Closed House System (CHS) the average level of allocative efficiency obtained was 1.044. This showed that the Closed House System (CHS) broiler poultry farming business has been allocatively efficient. The suggestions of this studyare the real time monitoring from the core parties namely reporting sapronak data, mortality and daily events on plasma parties by using the application of the FMDC tool for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of partnership cooperation, strict criminal and civil law sanctions for plasma parties which are proven to commit fraud in implementing partnership cooperation, an increase in the price of guarantee certificates for each new plasma that wants to join as a breeder.

Abstract

Increases to functional attention as a result of pharmaceutical advances have enhanced the lives of individuals with attention deficit disorders and their ability to function properly during everyday life. [1] Although there have been many studies done on the relationship of memory, concentration and chewing gum, the question of does it really help students perform better in classwork such as tests has been vague. In order to further test this study, I set up a controlled testing environment, in which I observed and recorded student concentration behaviors and memory test scores, with and without chewing gum.

Abstract

The morphology of the surface of the materials, can yield fundamental information that impacts the characteristics of the same, specifically in the process of setting of the binders that implies transformations in the density and viscosity. The objective of this work is to carry out an experimental study about the surface formation process during the setting of a cement-sand mixture, using the fractal dimension. The results showed that the experimental observations showed that the roughness and fractal dimension increased when the formation of pores occurs, likewise, the decrease of free water in the system responds to a first-order kinetics, while in the second stage It can be described through second-order kinetics.

Page(s): 87-95
Abstract

Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis), a cyanobacterium of considerable economic importance is studied for the adsorption capacity to Lead and Chromium. The cyanobacterium is very responsive to low metal concentration. The Biosorption studies showed that the algae had a great potential for adsorbing the heavy metal on to the cell. The study focuses on feasibility of the algae to be a good biosorbent. Culturing the algae in low metal concentrations can be utilized as potential tertiary treatment for metal containing effluent. The ability of Spirulina biomass to remove lead and chromium from aqueous solution was studied in batch process with respect to contact time and initial metal ions concentration at constant pH level and Biomass dosage at room temperature. The batch experiment yielded encouraging results on the potentiality of the algae to be a possible agent for removal of heavy metals from aqueous solutions.

Abstract

Refractory materials are characterized by their high melting temperature and ability to retain their properties during high temperature service operations. This study was focused on investigating the suitability of Ajaokuta Dolomite for foundry application and as a refractory material. Internationally accepted methods for testing properties of refractories were adopted and the test results were compared with acceptable standards. Beneficiated dolomite sample was also used as an additive in a moulding sand and its performance was tested by casting an aluminium pattern and comparing the result with an aluminium pattern casted using the normal foundry sand without a dolomite. Results from this study such as; Loss on ignition (39.71), flowability (34%), swelling index (0.80), mouldability (84.3%), permeability (47.3%) and porosity (29.3%) are all in conformation with the standard requirements for refractory materials. Result from the tensile test also shows that Ajaokuta dolomite can be used as an additive for foundry sand.

Abstract

Wireless spoofing attacks are easy to launch and can significantly impact the performance of networks. Although the identity of a node can be verified through cryptographic authentication, conventional security approaches are not always desirable because of their overhead requirements. In this paper, we propose to use spatial information, a physical property associated with each node, hard to falsify, and not reliant on cryptography, as the basis for detecting spoofing attack;determining the number of attackers when multiple adversaries masquerading as the same node identity; and localizing multiple adversaries. We propose to use the spatial correlation of received signal strength (RSS) inherited from wireless nodes to detect the spoofing attacks. We then formulate the problem of determining the number of attackers as a multiclass detection problem. Cluster-based mechanisms are developed to determine the number of attackers. We evaluated our techniques through two testbeds using both an 802.11 (WiFi) network and an 802.15.4 (ZigBee) network in two real office buildings. Our experimental results show that our proposed methods can achieve over 90 percent Hit Rate and Precision when determining the number of attackers.

The data were analyzed using descriptive methods and linear regression. The regression model results revealed that the academic performance of female students was determined by a variety of factors. Living styles, gender sensitive pedagogy and tutorial giving methods had a significant impact on female students’ educational life, whereas silencing in the class, anxiety, perceived living home cost, dependability, personal background, distance from home to campus, peoples and students interaction can affect the educational life of female students. Therefore, policy should deal with female students’ educational life. In general, creating awareness to solve female students’ academic life and the benefit of education for all concerned bodies; creating a mechanism through which female students develop positive attitude towards academic life are essential to narrow down the educational life problems of female students. Furthermore, arranging special tutorial classes for Female students on some days of a week on regular bases for all courses to solve the problem and building dormitory and living students in with designing new rules and regulations can minimize challenges of female students under the study. On its turn, this might contribute to the UN the third MDG that says “Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women”.

Synthesis and Characterization of Superhydrophobic Coatings
Author(s): Waleed Maqsood,
Page(s): 303-307
Abstract

Superhydrophobic coatings have drawn much attention in recent years because of their unique potential industrial applications. The prepared coating is cheap and versatile and can be applied on various substrates including glass, paper, acrylic, transparency and wood. Furthermore, the SHCs exhibit good long-term stability, water-durability and UV-durability, adapting to out-door environment. Above all, the coatings are environmental, low cost and can be quickly coated on various large-scale substrates, which will widen their practical applications. Two distinct theoretical models have been used to guide the generation of superhydrophobic surface by either roughening the surface or lowering the surface free energy, or both. The increasing interest in studying and manufacturing hydrophobic surface results from their possible practical applications. They find their primary use in corrosion, erosion or general degradation protection applications on metallic, polymer and inorganic oxide (stone, glass, ceramic, etc.) solid surfaces. In recent years, this field has evolved into a major industry trade which covers modern applications from anti-fogging as well as water and snow repellent surfaces for construction materials, glass, automotive and aerospace technology, all the way to reduce frictional drag on airplane wings and ship hulls.

The Correlation Between Alaska’s Increasing Annual Atmospheric Temperature and Decreasing Permafrost Depth
Author(s): Anna Keibler
Page(s): 327-341
Abstract

Over the past 70 years, the state of Alaska has exhibited an increase in average annual temperature and a decrease in overall permafrost depth. Permafrost degradation can result in the release of carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere and threatens the structural integrity of the tundra. Previous studies have focused on the permafrost’s active layer thickness as well as changes in permafrost depth of specific sites throughout Alaska. However, there is a significant lack of research that focuses on permafrost depth spanning the entire surface area of the region. The purpose of this research is to determine if a direct correlation exists between increasing average annual temperature and decreasing permafrost depth throughout Alaska. Data in this research was compiled from two year groups, 1950 – 1975 and 2000 – 2019, utilizing data allocated from previously compiled datasets and historical archives such as the National Snow and Ice Data Center, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the CALM Network. Data analyzed via Inverse Distance Weighted and Simple Kriging methods of interpolation produced a series of maps showing a dramatic decrease in permafrost depth between the two year groups, with permafrost receding from 50% coverage to less than 25% coverage. These maps also show an increase in average annual temperature that is inversely proportional to latitude. Overall, the data indicates that there is no direct correlation between average annual temperatures and permafrost depth for permafrost layers penetrating less than 300 meters, while very deep permafrost – penetrating over 300 meters – must maintain an average annual temperature below 21.11°F.

Abstract

In this paper, the author considereda special type of standard bi-quadratic congruence of composite modulus for formulation of its solutions. The author’s efforts has provided a formulation of solutions of the said congruence. The discovered formula is tested true by solving different examples and by its verifications. Such formulation was not considered by earlier mathematicians and no effective method is found to find its solutions. Formulation is the merit of the paper. It is proved time-saving, easy and simple. Sometimes the solutions can be obtained orally. This is one more merit of the paper. This made the study of bi-quadratic congruence more interesting.

Abstract

The Climate in Sri Lanka is tropical and consists of very characteristic in dry and wet seasons. As compared with the land area of Sri Lanka, Badulla district covers 4.4 %. Badulla district is a capital city of Uva province and it consists of 15 AGA divisions and 1960 villages. Badulla district is an agricultural district where vegetables, tea, fruits, and paddy are cultivated. The district has been separated into two portions as Upper region and Lower region considering the climatic and geographical features. The upper region of the district is eminent for tea plantation and vegetable cultivation while the lower region is famous for paddy agriculture. Changing climate is an uncountable cause of worry for all over the world especially rain-fed developing country. The fluctuated rainfall pattern harmfully affects their crops. The attempt was made to study the variation of monthly, seasonal and annual rainfall over Badulla district of Sri Lanka during twenty years’ period from 1999 to 2018. Annual rainfall trends over the Badulla District showed the increasing trends of about 15.8 mm/Year. Near about 12 years (60 %) shows annual rainfall less than that of mean annual rainfall and 08 years (40 %) show annual rainfall more that of mean annual rainfall. First Inter-Monsoon Season (March-April), Southwest-monsoon Season (May-September) and Second Inter-Monsoon Season (October-November) rainfall trends show the decreasing rainfall trends while Northeast-Monsoon Season (December-February) rainfall trends shows the increasing rainfall trend.

Author(s): Donka Demudu, Penta Shreeni Vasarao
Page(s): 355-364
Abstract

The quality of weld joint is influenced by process parameters during the welding process. In order to achieve high quality welds, input process parameters should be controlled. In this investigation four input process parameters such as arc rotational speed, ratio of wire feed rate to travel speed, wire feed rate and eccentricity are considered. The experiments were conducted on square butt joint plate of 5083 H111 aluminium alloy using full factorial design of experiments. Output parameters like bead penetration, bead height, bead width are measured. The fuzzy models for bead penetration, bead height and bead width are developed using fuzzy logic. This fuzzy model has been used for prediction of output parameters. Accuracy analysis of weld bead geometry is also performed. It is observed that % of error is less than 10% in most of the cases for bead height and width and less than 20% for bead penetration.

Abstract

In perception of traffic light detect various lights from an image and then recognize traffic light and then estimate the status of the light signal. Automatic detection and recognition of traffic light is an important perception function for advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) or an autonomous vehicle. Three key challenges of the system are computation time, varying illumination conditions and false positives. In our approach, perception of traffic light is done from the dark frames and accurately classified using machine learning in consecutive bright frames. A multiclass classifier is adopted to reduce number of false positives in the bright channel. In order to overcome challenging problems in the traffic light recognition, we have proposed a traffic light perception system based on an image processing and machine learning.

Abstract

Dyes are often used in the textile industry, one of which is methyl orange. Azo dyes are a depiction of a class of organic pollutants that have the potential to be carcinogenic which causes problems with the environment if they are dumped directly into the river without treatment. One method to degrade pollutants in water is the Fenton method with OH radical formation obtained from the reaction of H2O2 with Fe2+ ions where these radicals will break down organic compounds into harmless compounds (H2O and CO2). Previously, it was successfully synthesized the composite catalyst Fe3O4/Fe2O3@SiO2 from iron sand and silica sand. To test the catalytic performance of the synthesized Fe3O4/Fe2O3@SiO2 of catalyst. The optimum conditions for the degradation of methyl orange with pH 2 by heterogeneous catalyst Fe3O4/Fe2O3@SiO2 at 120 minutes, and the amount of catalyst 150 mg. At these optimum conditions degradation efficiency reaches 97%.

Abstract

This research intended to control the positioning of antenna azimuth system with a model-free controller. The model-free controller presented here, has proven to be able to reach comparable performances than advanced techniques controllers. The model-free controller design has a simple structure, its implementation and tuning rule are simple, and does not need any special knowledge about control theories and modelling of the system. It is more efficient than some advanced controllers such as LQR, FLC, QFT, because it can reach similar performances than these controllers, but with less requirements in term of time and effort needed to design the controllers and to tune it, when requested.

Page(s): 389-411
Abstract

An investigation of the efficiency of cassava peel powder on phytoremediation potential of Chromolaena odorata in hydrocarbon contaminated soil was carried out at a crude oil impacted site in Botem community in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State. Four treatments were set up; A1 (polluted soil + C. odorata), A2 (polluted soil phytoremediated with C. odorata and amended with 500 g cassava peel powder), A3 (polluted soil phytoremediated with C. odorata and amended with1000 g cassava peel powder) and the control A4 (polluted soil without plant and amendment). The treatments were arranged using Latin Square Design (LSD). Physicochemical properties and hydrocarbon content of soil were analyzed. Result showed higher percentage reduction in total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) and total hydrocarbon content (THC) concentration in phytoremediated soil; with or without amendment; A1 (88.95% and 93.57%), A2 (88.43 % and 94.18%), and A3(87.39 % and 93.46 %)) than in polluted soil alone (14.76% and 32.90%) respectively. Result also showed significant (P = 0.05) increase in total nitrogen, total organic carbon, total organic matter in soil. This is an indication that phytoremediation of hydrocarbon contaminated site using Chromolaena odorata and cassava peel was more effective and should be considered in the remediation of crude oil contaminated soil.

Abstract

A mathematical modelling of the effects of solar radiation alongside some important parameters was examined on the temperature of loamy soil. The thermal conductivity of the soil was taken to be linearly varying with position and the boundary condition is also considered to be varying exponentially. The dimensional energy equation was reduced to non-dimensional form using some set of dimensionless parameters. Two phase perturbation method was then employed to reduce the equation from partial differential equation to ordinary differential equation and then solved analytically. The effects of emerging physical parameters which include the solar radiation parameter and the internal heat generation parameter among others were examined on the loamy soil temperature and the numerical results were computed and displayed on graphs using Matlab R2009b. The model revealed that the mounting solar radiation increases the temperature of the loamy soil.

Design and Implementation of Low Power Area Efficient Shift Register Using Modified Clock Pulse Generator
Author(s): Anitha.R, Murugasami.R
Page(s): 433-439
Abstract

Shift register is the key element to translate the parallel data to serial form or vice versa in digital circuits. It is commonly used in many applications, such as digital filters communication receivers, and image processing ASIC’s. It can also a function as delay circuits and digital pulse extenders. In the existing system, the conventional N-bit unidirectional shift-register was proposed and it consists of N number of master-slave flip-flop with multiple 2-to-1 multiplexers. Also, the conventional clock signal methodology was promoted to transfer data from one stage to next stage. It occupies more silicon area and increases the power consumption of the shift register. To eradicate the above said difficulties a novel 256-bit bidirectional shift-register using BD-PLs is proposed. It simplifies the BD-PL structure by removing the contemporary signals (Qb, DR_b, and, DL_b) and also reduce the number of full swing clock signals applied to each stage. The modified method will reduce area and power consumption of the bidirectional shift register. The proposed method will be implemented using the XILINX Software technology.

Low-Power and High Speed Full Adder Using Optimized XOR and XNOR GATE Structures
Author(s): Shobika. C, Mr.G.Prabakaran
Page(s): 440-447
Abstract

In this paper, novel circuits for XOR/XNOR and synchronous XOR–XNOR capacities are proposed. The proposed circuits are profoundly enhanced as far as the power utilization what's more, delay, which are because of low yield capacitance and low short out power dissemination. We likewise propose six new mixture 1-piece full-viper (FA) circuits dependent on the novel full-swing XOR–XNOR or XOR/XNOR entryways. Every one of the proposed circuits has its own benefits as far as speed, control utilization, power delay item (PDP), driving capacity, etc. To research the exhibition of the proposed structures, broad HSPICE and Rhythm Virtuoso reenactments are performed. Abstract

This paper introduce a hardware-oriented SPIHT decoding algorithm in electrocardiogram. Low-power hardware architecture is developed to implement a real-time, high-performance and low-cost ECG. SPIHT employs more sophisticated coding and which exploits the properties of the wavelet transformed to increase its efficiency. However, current SPIHT coding structures are intended for picture/video handling. These structures require a lot of memory just as muddled arranging calculations, which both require tedious undertakings and are unsatisfactory for portable ECG applications. In light of our recently changed SPIHT coding work, which utilized banners and check bits to decrease memory prerequisites and coding unpredictability by combining three inquiry forms into one stage. Hence, to accomplish the on-going plan objective for portable ECG applications, in this paper, we initially present an equipment situated SPIHT translating calculation that is reasonable for deciphering the recently introduced SPIHT coding work. In like manner, a fitting low-control equipment engineering is created to execute an on-going elite and minimal effort SPIHT VLSI plan for our proposed decoder calculation, which is suitable for portable ECG application. To design Real-time, cost and power-efficient one-dimension (1-D) wavelet-based quality-assured electrocardiograph (ECG) compression systems using Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) decoder design.

Abstract

MAC calculations account for a huge piece of AI quickening agent activities. The pipelined structure is generally embraced to improve the execution by lessening the length of basic ways. An expansion in the quantity of flip-tumbles due to pipelining, be that as it may, for the most part brings about huge territory and power increment. An enormous number of flip-flops are regularly required to meet the feedforward-cutset rule. In view of the perception that this standard can be loose in AI applications, we propose a pipelining strategy that disposes of a portion of the flip-flounders specifically. The reenactment results demonstrate that the proposed MAC unit accomplished a 20% vitality sparing and a 20% zone decrease contrasted and the ordinary pipelined MAC.

Abstract

Many of risks occur during the human resource management. During the time of recruitment and post-recruitment, HR needs to predict the events where risks occur of which decision can be made like selection, strategic planning, and training. These criteria vary between conditions ranging from sociology, health condition, degree of uncertainty, avoidance, and sequence of actions as a matrix in Bayesian decision model. The Bayesian decision-making (DM) framework includes risk identification, decision choices, outcomes of decisions, and described losses from HR risk. In this paper, the weighted risk management is developed from the existing context of HR risks. The weighted risk will be evaluated in term of losses and the mathematical modeling of the decision making scheme is made.

Abstract

Roughness is a characteristic property of solid surfaces, and its modification by physical and chemical treatments is of great importance when certain uses of materials are required on an industrial or laboratory scale. Properties such as adsorption, heat transmission, and the efficiency of a catalyst depend largely on surface roughness. At present, a better surface finish is increasingly necessary to optimize the use of certain products. A very complicated surface finish becomes a higher cost and production time, hence the importance of knowing how this property depends on the solid formation process. The present work is based on the hypothesis that the fractal dimension of the surface of a solid-solid dispersed system depends on the surface area and the composition of the particles that form the dispersed phase. From this hypothesis, it is established as a general objective to experimentally determine the relationship between the fractal dimension, the size of particles and the composition of a dispersed system formed by cement (dispersion medium) and stone dust (dispersed phase).

Abstract

There have been pollution threats in many ways regarding to our Malawi, as well as worldwide causing damage to the natural resources and harming humans. But it’s quite difficult to assess causes and damage usually they are complex. Agriculture pollution is normally diffused by the nature, arising at low levels but leading to significant cumulative impacts. Looking at agricultural pollution it is too significant reasons. Accurate assessments of problems and costs of pollution and the development of policies and technologies to reduce pollution, but, there are only a few meet the required partnership between specialists.Disciplines and institutions of people who produce or suffer the impact of the pollution. Likely, there are less countries in central Africa that does these technological assessment and policies for development.

Abstract

This action research focused on the effectiveness of using drama learning methods in enhancing pupil’s understanding of HIV/ AIDS. It was conducted on 140 Grade 11 pupils (70 in experimental and 70 in the control group) at Masala Secondary School in Ndola. The main purpose of this research was to assess the impact the Drama learning method has on pupils when learning the concepts of HIV/ AIDS. The study adopted a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design. A quantitative approach was applied in data collection and analysis. Various methods used in data collection included an achievement test (pre-test and post-test) and Likert scale questionnaires. This research lasted for 8 weeks. Data were analysed using SPSS version 20 by first conducting normality tests followed by appropriate statistical tests and presented using tables and graphs. The analysis involved descriptive statistics (means, medians, Standard deviations) and inferential statistics (independent samples Mann-Whitney and t-Tests). Although the median score of the Control group (29) was higher than that of the Experimental group (17.50), a Mann-Whitney U test indicated that there was no significant difference between the pretest scores of the experimental and control groups (U = 2087.500, p = .130, r = .13). Therefore, the experimental and control groups were equal in performance before administration of the treatment. However, the posttest mean scores (%) of the experimental group (67.83) was higher than that of the control group (43.66). A Mann-Whitney U test indicated that there was a significant difference in the distribution of the posttest scores of the experimental and control groups (U = 824.00, p < .001, r = .57), hence the conclusion that the experimental and control groups were different in performance after the treatment was drawn. This result indicates that the use of drama method of teaching was more effective than the conventional teaching methods. Further, the study found that the learners had positive attitudes towards drama and biology (M = 3.44, SD =0.287) and that there was no significant difference between the attitude of males and females [t (68) = 0.605, p = 0.548] towards the use of drama teaching methods. The study, therefore, recommends the use of drama methods in the teaching of biology and other science subjects. Further, researchers need to engage in investigations of the effective use and impact of drama methods across other grade levels and subject areas.

Abstract

Asbestos had been used by manufacturers to produce brake pads, but it turned out to be harmful and toxic in nature. So the manufacturers had decided not to manufacture brake pads using Asbestos. It can cause health issues like asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancers too. Thus the brake pads can be manufactured using some natural fibres like coconut shell as reinforcement material, along with Graphite which can act as better friction material, Alumina as abrasive material, and, Epoxy resin as a binder. This will make brake pads function well with high friction co-efficient and less wear rate and by using natural waste material as reinforced material, it is good for the environment too. It has its advantages as it makes less noise than metallic brake pads, thus reducing noise pollution. About the tests conducted, various samples were collected by varying the compositions and were tested at various speeds. The wear rate was calculated and, the co-efficient of friction was also investigated. Sample four has given the better result than others. It is observed that, the naturally produced brake pads can be a considerable alternate for Asbestos.

Abstract

In previous research of privacy issues in data storage is usually a patient to create, and control the personal health data in one place through the web, which has made the storage, retrieval, and sharing of the medical information efficiently. Each patient is promised the full control of the medical records and can share the health data with a wide range of users, including family members, friends or healthcare providers. However, there have been wide privacy concerns as personal health information could be exposed to those third party servers and to unauthorized parties. To assure the patients control over access to their own Personal Health Records (PHR), this method encrypts the PHR before given to third parties. This paper proposes a novel patient-centric framework and also mechanisms for data access control to records stored in semi-trusted servers. To achieve scalable data access control for records, Encryption techniques are introduced to encrypt each patient’s PHR data. Different from previous works in secure data outsourcing, it is now focused on the multiple cloud mirror scenario, and adopt different security mechanism such as different encryption methods in each attributes with the capability of the cloud software architecture.

Abstract

Despite the fact that developed countries are yelling for environmental protection to be fully supported, the developing countries view it as a strategy to slow down their economic and social development. This is as a result of the complexity in intersecting the social, economic and environmental aspects of sustainable development. However, regardless of the controversies, the era of environmental latency is over. All over the globe, governments and various bodies have created a greater awareness as to the need for environmental protection with the concept of sustainable development gaining grounds worldwide. International policies which led to its adoption in regions and countries aims to tackle the undesirable effect of mans’ activities on the environment. It seeks to strike a balance between the needs of the present and that of the future generations. The green strategy of implementing sustainable development in Nigeria has so far been beneficial to the country although it seems lip service is paid to this area. However the nation has witnessed more conducive environment for international relations and prospects for future advancements compared to the period of her independence. Thus, laws protecting the environment should be enacted where necessary and existing ones strengthened, and compliance ensured to achieve environmental sustainability.

Abstract

There are many routing approaches have been borrowed from mobile ad hoc network to achieve routing solutions in wireless mesh network. WMN was developed for reliable data communication and load balancing. AODV provides loop-free routes even while repairing broken links. On this paper, we propose a hierarchical routing framework which is adapted to a wireless mesh network (WMN) environment and ensures the most critical issue in the wireless network: load-balancing. We simplify clusters formation and maintenance procedure, propose limited topology broadcasting mechanism allowing WMC to choose the best path to a WMC in adjacent cluster, and connect to a number nearby WMR. Basing on that routing framework we propose a liquid-simulated algorithm to keep load-balances between WMRs.

Abstract

The output power pulsate twice the line frequency on the DC-DC converter. It generates the harmonic current .These harmonic current affect the MPPT and the overall conversion efficiency. The voltage loop gain is improved by using the active damping scheme. In this proposed method the super-lift boost converter is used because this converter has 2 times fast performance compared to the DC-DC converter and it also boost the input voltage. The super lift boost converter most widely used for the voltage loop gain. This process is higher than the cascade boost converter. There is no conversion loss during the voltage conversion process. And this paper was experimentally verified.

Abstract

In the modern era, grid connected sustainable energy based hybrid power system is considered as an alternative source for power generation. Especially, need of the time is to provide the three-phase power to grid with smooth sinusoidal voltages having fixed frequency in synchronization manner with the grid. In sustainable energy wind energy conversions system and solar photovoltaic energy conversion system the integration of power electronics converters is a common for grid synchronization with improving current injected quality in terms of total harmonic distortions (THDs) This paper presents a new control for grid synchronization, less Total harmonic distortion with fixed frequency and voltage magnitude of grid voltage. A permanent magnet synchronous generator-based full-scale wind turbine is interfaced to the utility-grid via back-to-back voltage-source converters (VSCs).A PV solar generator is connected to the dc-link capacitor of VSCs through the boost dc to dc converter. The proposed topology features an independent maximum power pointtracking for both the wind and the PV generators to maximize the extraction of the sustainable energy. The proposed system control algorithm is developed and implemented, using soft tools in MATLAB 2015a software using sim power system toolbox and perforce validated through the simulations results

An Approach for Engineering Tuning of PID Controller with a Highly Oscillating Second Order Process
Author(s): Georgi Petrov Terziyski
Page(s): 918-922
Abstract

An approach is proposed for engineering tuning of PID controller with a highly oscillating second order process. A proposal is made to solve the problem by solving the characteristic equation of the closed system process-controller. As a result of the high order system analysis, the PID controller tuning parameters were calculated. The obtained values of the tuning parameters completely satisfy the set quality requirements of the high order system. A 0% overshoot value is obtained, which is the quality requirement. From the obtained transient processes of the closed system of process-controller by default and by interference confirm the set quality requirement, namely 0% overshoot. Therefore, the proposed tuning for a PID controller with a highly oscillating second order process is suitable for use in the analysis of high order dynamic systems.

Abstract

This paper presents power analysis and simulations of maximum constant boost control with third harmonic injection methods for the Z-well inverter that provide maximum boost for a modulation index. fixed. The Z-Source inverter is a newly invented power conversion concept designed primarily for fuel cell applications in automobiles. The Z-source inverter is very advantageous over traditional inverters and can be used in all AC and DC conversion applications. All conventional PWM techniques can be used to control a Z-source inverter. The maximum constant rise control techniques eliminate low frequency ripples in the inductor current and in the capacitor voltage while maintaining the duty cycle while minimizing the voltage limitations of the switching devices. The maximum gain control method is suitable only for a relatively high output frequency, in the maximum constant gain control method, however, the structure of the Z source network is independent of the output frequency and is determined solely by the determined switching frequency. This article describes the Z parameters of the source inverter such as the boost factor, the output DC link voltage, the capacitor voltage, the output AC voltage, the voltage gain, and so on. are determined experiences. presents performance analysis and simulation of maximum constant boost-control with third harmonic injection methods for the Z-source inverter, which can obtain maximum voltage boost for a fixed modulation index. The Z-source inverter is a recently invented a new power conversion concept mainly developed for fuel cell vehicular applications. The Z-source inverter is very advantageous over traditional inverters and it can be employed in all ac and dc power conversion applications. All traditional PWM methods can be used to control Z-source inverter. Maximum constant boost control methods eliminates the low-frequency ripples in the inductor current and capacitor voltage by maintaining the shoot-through duty cycle constant, and minimize the voltage stresses of switching devices at the same time. The Maximum boost control method is suitable for relatively high output freq uency only, but in the maximum constant boost control method the Z-source network design is independent of the output frequency and determined only by the switching frequency. In this paper Z-source inverter parameters such as boost factor, output dc link voltage, capacitor voltage, output ac voltage, voltage gain etc. are determined for maximum constant boost control method for a fixed modulation index and these results are verified by simulation and experiments.

Analysis of SVPWM for Inverter Fed DTC of Induction Motor Drive
Author(s): Shakil Akhtar, Giraj Solanki
Page(s): 964-966
Abstract

Various aspects related to the control of induction motors are investigated. The Direct Torque Control (DTC) strategy is extensively studied and its relationship to Vector Vector Modulation (SVM) underlined. driven by induction motor. The main objective of this work is the analysis of the induction motor with SVPWM inverter and the harmonic analysis of voltages and currents. To control the number of IM pulse width modulation schemes (PWM schemes) are used for the variable voltage and frequency power supply. The most commonly used PWM schemes for three-phase voltage source (VSI) inverters are PWM sinusoidal PWM motors (SPWM) and PWM space vectors (SVPWM). There is a growing trend for using Spatial Vector PWM (SVPWM) as it reduces the harmonic content in the voltage and increases the base output voltage of instant messages. The performance of the inverter-driven SVPWM drive is therefore modeled and simulated using the MATLAB / SIMULINK software. The results of the SVPWM-based induction motor drive speed control will be similar to those of the Modulator Driven Induction Motor (IM) motor drive and Direct Induction Motor (DTC) induction.

Abstract

As we have already seen a splendid growth in multimedia and technology, and considerably higher scale of social issues and crimes, face recognition plays a vital role in taking actions regarding all of these. Face as an object consists of variety of features for detection and recognition, therefore, it is still the most challenging research area for students in the field of computer vision and image processing. In this survey paper, I have tried to put in few most endeavouring face features such as, various poses, age, partial occlusion etc. All this information contributes more and more during identification. However the most important is to reject the outliers of facial points. But this task has become more challenging and it becomes tough to recognize faces due to various external and the internal factors such as ageing, variations in poses, emotions variations, uncontrolled environmental conditions etc. There are various techniques which have been developed and used. Each technique has its own characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, performance, representative work etc. This paper also states face detection techniques, approaches, as Eigenface, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Independent Component Analysis (ICA), Elastic Bunch Graph Matching etc. However, I just aim to provide a comprehensive review over face recognition along with its applications. And after the deep dive, some major outcomes are given in conclusion.

Abstract

Programmed division of veins in fundus pictures is of incredible significance as eye maladies just as some fundamental maladies cause perceptible pathologic adjustments. It is a twofold arrangement issue: for every pixel we think about two conceivable classes (vessel or non-vessel). We utilize a GPU execution of profound max-pooling convolutional neural systems to fragment veins. We test our technique on openly accessible DRIVE dataset and our outcomes show the high viability of the profound learning approach. Our technique accomplishes a normal precision and AUC of 0.9466 and 0.9749, separately.

Abstract

Power generation is a leading contributor to air quality deterioration. This has led to the emergence of basic air quality benchmarks that are supposed to be upheld by power companies. While these decisions are taken keeping the health of the broad environment in mind, little is done to reduce or compensate for the damage caused in the regions surrounding power plants. This research employs pollution measurement models and combines them with Operations Research techniques to come up with solutions that make lives easier for people living around power plants..

Abstract

Due to increasing number of Internet connected devices like machine to machine communication type networks, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) big challenges in terms of, connectivity, accessibility and security and is naturalized by random transmissions of short packets. In this paper, Asynchronous channel access model performed by a primary ad hoc network underlay with cognitive secondary wireless- powered by an ad hoc network. Particularly, we consider power grid are connected to the primary transmitters, whereas the cognitive secondary transmitters have radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting capabilities and their time switching based asynchronous channel access is recognized based on definite energy and interference based criteria. The sporadic channel traffic is modeled by time-space Poisson point processes and we provide an analytical framework, based on stochastic geometry, for the performance of this asynchronous system.

Abstract

Microfinance institutions (MFIs) have often focused on their productivity over the last decades, as opposed to supporting their poor customers. The Mission of Microfinance and Microfinance Institutions (MFIS) is to enhance social welfare and advancement and sustainable development by accelerating economic growth and financial development and representing poverty alleviation. In addition, entrepreneurship in developing countries is regularly attributed to the many constructive changes. It is at least linked to the creation of wealth, technology and employment of its financial benefits. Strong entrepreneurship and small business ventures are linked to a strong economy. Across the industrial and developing markets, the company has become a fundamental piece of economic advancement methods. Consensus assessment disclosed a high level of microfinance on the significance of entrepreneurship. An empirical review also showed that there is some degree of connection between entrepreneurship and microfinance. This study examines the relationship between microfinance and entrepreneurship in Jordan.

Implementation of a Microcontroller Base Single Phase Automatic Changeover
Author(s): Oparanwata Chidi Cosmas
Page(s): 1061-1069
Abstract

This research work is aimed at automatically switching power between multiple sources in order to provide constant power to load. In Nigeria as a case study, the electric power generated do not meet the demands of the growing consumers of electricity, hence power instability and outage. Power instability or outage normally doesn’t promote development within the public and private sector. The investors don’t feel secure to come back into a country with constant or frequent power breakdown. There are some processes that cannot be interrupted because of their importance like surgery operation in hospitals, transfer of money between banks and lots more. Power instability and outage in countries like Nigeria creates a need for alternative sources of electricity to back-up the mains supply. Automatic changeover switches find application scope wherever the reliability of electrical supply from the utilities is low, for switching to an alternate supply from main source and vice versa.

Abstract

From the beginning of the era, education is the utmost factor of prominent economy but as India still absence in this primary sector for providing optimum education to everyone. Education whilst “The most powerful weapon which can use to change the world” can fill up the void gap and resolve up to half of the problems for betterment of the society. As the recent data clearly depicts that average literacy rate in India is 74% which contains more men than women. In the epoch of proliferation, India is still few steps behind the economy contrast to other countries. Urbanisation leading with right pace towards development with good infrastructure, better education in urban areas, financial support, increasing jobs, and with varied facilities to people, but rural areas lacks all these facilities which is a major issue for the people living.

Unauthorized Access Detection in IOT using Canary Token Algorithm

Abstract

IoT is the rapidly growing field after the Internet and Smartphones. In the era of the connected world it is clear that almost all devices and things in the near future will be connected to the Internet. When any new technology comes it also comes with a variety of vulnerabilities which is ready to be exploited. Even though Iot has been around for the past few years there is something which hinders it from becoming a global thing, one among such thing is the security. Conventional widely used authentications based on single password or pin can be compromised with side channel or dictionary attacks. So it is always good to have an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) such as Canary Tokens which is being deployed natively on the users itself, thereby even if the server is compromised and somehow it goes undetected still the users can be warned and their valuable data can be protected.

Remote Data Integrity Checking with Third Party Auditor in Public Cloud using a Proxy Server
Author(s): S. Swamy Ayyappa, Prof P.S. Avadhani
Page(s): 1111-1114
Abstract

Rapid development of cloud computing enabled many users to store data to PCS (public cloud servers). Enormous amount of data in cloud brought up the need of new security problems to be solved in allowing more clients process their data in a public cloud. At times the owner or the administrator fails to dispose its duty, upon the delegation that is handled by a proxy to process the data and upload them. Alongside the remote data integrity checking with third party auditor is also possible in public cloud storage. Proxy makes an internal communication with the client as well as end user in disposing the data with security. We propose a method of remote data integrity checking with third party auditor using IDPP (Identity based proxy server processing). This IDPP protocol is designed to enhance secure transactions and works on CDH (computational Diffie-Hellman) problem. IDPP can realize the remote data integrity checking possible upon the authorization by the administrator or owner.

Noise Robust Digit Recognition Using Sparse Representations

Page(s): 1115-1119
Abstract

Despite the utilization of noise hardiness techniques, automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems create more recognitionerrors than humans, particularly in terribly creaking circumstances. We argue that this inferior recognition performance is essentially due to the actual fact that in ASR speech is usually processed on a frameby-frame basis preventing the redundancy within the speech signal to be optimally exploited. we tend to gift a completely unique non-parametric classification methodology that may handle missing information whereas at the same time exploiting the dependencies between the reliable options in a whole word. we tend to compare the new methodology with a state-of-the-art HMM-based speech decoder within which missing data area unit imputed on a frame-by-frame basis. each ways area unit tested on one digit recognition task (based on AURORA-2 data) exploitation associate degree oracle associate degreed an calculable harmonicity mask. We show that at associate degree SNR of -5 decibel exploitation the reliable options of associate degree entire word permits associate degree accuracy of ninety one (using mel-log-energy features together with associate degree oracle mask), whereas a standard frame-based approach achieves solely sixty one. Results obtained with the harmonicity mask recommend that this specific mask estimation technique is just unable to deliver decent reliable features for acceptable recognition rates at these low SNRs.
